Quest Brewing Co. is proud to host Angela Easterling & the Beguilers on Thursday July 14. The show starts at 7PM with no cover charge. Food will be available for purchase with Automatic Taco Food Truck.

Angela Easterling lives with her partner and their 2 young sons on the Greer, SC farm that has been in her family since 1791. Her most recent release, 2015’s “Common Law Wife”, went all the way to number 1 on the Roots Music Report Americana Country Airplay Chart, and remained in the top five on that chart for nearly 2 months, garnishing much praise in the press. Her album, “BlackTop Road”, produced by Will Kimbrough, landed in the top 5 for adds to the Americana radio charts and remained on the Americana top 40 airplay chart for 7 weeks. It was chosen as a top pick in both Oxford American and Country Weekly. She was selected for an official Americana Convention Showcase, a Southeastern Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Official Showcase and is also a three-time Kerrville New Folk Finalist (2009, 2010, 2015) a 2011 Telluride Troubadour and a two-time Wildflower Performing Songwriter Top 10 Finalist (2012 & 2015). The Boston Herald named her song “The Picture” “Best Political Country Song” in their Year’s best music picks. Angela’s music was featured in commercials (Southwestern Bell) and several of her songs were used in the series “Horsepower” on Animal Planet. She was invited to appear on the WSM-hosted stage at the CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair, where her entire set was broadcast live. Angela has appeared on the nationally broadcast public radio program “Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know”, the popular ETV show “Making It Grow”, Sirius XM Outlaw Country’s “Buddy and Jim Show” with Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale, and was also interviewed by noted NPR journalist Bob Edwards. She was invited to perform at the Smithsonian Institution’s exhibit New Harmonies: Celebrating American Root’s Music, as well as the 2015 Woody Guthrie Folk Festival.
Angela tours the U.S., both solo and duo with Brandon Turner, and has appeared with her crowd-pleasing band The Beguilers at numerous concert series and music festivals throughout the Southeast, including Shakori Hills, Fall for Greenville, NC Apple Festival, Strawberry Festival, Albino Skunkfest and more. She has opened for or appeared with The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Sarah Jarosz, Elizabeth Cook, Lucinda Williams, Charlie Louvin, Robbie Fulks, Mary Gauthier, Ray Price (at the Birchmere), Suzy Bogguss, Ellis Paul, Tom Brosseau, Eilen Jewell, Radney Foster, Will Kimbrough, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Lori McKenna.

Billy Cardine is an innovative, genre-blurring slide guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, touring artist, and educator. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Ryman Auditorium and major festivals, such as Bonnaroo, Merlefest and Rockygrass. He is an internationally featured artist touring in India, Japan, Europe and Canada as well. Billy’s dobro playing was recently featured on a Jerry Douglas’ production, Southern Filibuster, honoring one of the forefathers of the Dobro. Billy’s unique stylings and expertise attracted innovative analog music mogul, Moog Music. During 2010, he helped Moog design their first electric slide guitar, which he then debuted at MoogFest the following year. Billy’s distinct voice on all things slide has lead him to collaborations with Led Zeppelin’s own, John Paul Jones and world renowned, Edgar Meyer in his Porous Borders of Music. Billy’s productions have won national and international awards and recognition including Indie Acoustic Music Project’s Roots Album of the Year, Chicago Tribune’s Best Bluegrass records of the year and an Apple iPod Playlist Hot Pick. His memorable compositions and exquisite playing have been featured on The History Channel’s “Our Generation”, BBC World’s “Destination Music”, and PBS’ “RoadTrip Nation”. ‘Tonight’s Noise was formed in early 2012 in upstate South Carolina with the goal in mind of bringing together the most capable and diverse musicians the southeast has to offer. A trio of working musicians who can reach from deep down, sultry blues to blistering fast bluegrass bliss at the nod of a head. With an array of originals taking you across landscapes of latin grooves and funk flavors with a new grass/roots feel that reminds you that you’re still home.

Bassist Sam Kruer and guitarist Matt Fassas first met at Eastern Kentucky University where both were studying music and getting hired out by a variety of local talent, including their own college music professors. Around the same time, mandolin player Matt Purinton was making his first big move from the Carolinas out west to Colorado where he toured the west coast and Rocky Mountains with various jam/bluegrass outfits.

Around early 2009 the Carolina’s were calling Purinton to come back home, and for Fassas to find a new start. Greenville, SC provided a comfy nest for the musicians to grow, and a nice place for Kruer to land in mid 2011. Now Tonight’s Noise is taking over and turning heads as they gear up for a tour in Fall 2012.

Quest in ‘Paste’ Magazine 5/20/16

May 20,2016. Quest Brewing Company’s Grand Cru Belgian Quad was featured in ‘Paste’ Magazine’s article entitled ’32 of the Best Belgian Quads, Blind-Tasted and Ranked’. This high-ABV beer was included in the 20-32 top ranked beers across the globe in a blind taste test. Quest’s Grand Cru uses a native yeast from Southyeast Labs that gives the beer Belgian qualities using local yeast cultivated in South Carolina. The Quest Grand Cru is released every January in bottles available at craft beer retailers in the Carolinas.

Based out of Greenville, SC, The Bad Popes are a five-piece ensemble consisting of Jef Chandler (guitar, vocals), Charles Hedgepath (guitar, vocals), Chris Garrett (bass), Mike Bagwell (pedal steel, vocals), and Joe Cash (drums). All veterans of the South Carolina music scene, The Bad Popes have been playing as a unit since 2002, with Joe Cash coming on board in 2010. Adept in many different styles of music that fall under the umbrella term Americana, the band plays everything from western swing in the manner of Bob Wills to rock in the spirit of the Allman Brothers to straight up country material like Hank Williams, Sr. Featuring original material as well as select covers, The Bad Popes released their eponymous debut CD in 2009, followed by their second CD Town and Country in 2012. Town and Country was voted by listeners of popular Americana station WNCW as one of the top 100 albums of 2012. The band is currently working on their third CD and touring in the Carolinas.

 

Quest takes Gold at World Beer Cup 2016

May 6 2016. Quest Brewing Company won a gold medal for their Ponce Cucumber Jalapeno Saison at the 2016 World Beer Cup. This bi-annual event, hosted in Philadelphia, featured 2,011 breweries from 63 countries around the world competing for these prestigious awards.
Quest’s award marks the first time a brewery from South Carolina has won a gold medal in this competition.
Quest Brewing Co. was founded in 2013 by Don Richardson and Andrew Watts in Greenville, SC. Quest has been met with unprecedented success in its first few years of operation, garnering national attention from USA Today, Hemispheres magazine, Thrillist.com, Beer Advocate, Maxim, and Southern Living. Quest’s products are distributed throughout the state of South Carolina and North Carolina.
